Base qualifications / certifications
From the 2022/23 season, all Coaches (Lead & Assistants) will need the following before they can start coaching children / young adults:
- Valid Club DBS
- The FA Safeguarding certificate
- The FA Emergency Aid certificate
All Lead Coaches will also require The FA certificate ‘Introduction to Coaching‘ (formerly The FA Level 1 qualification). Information and costs for these can be found via The FA Bootroom (See ‘Useful Links’ on the portal homepage). The base qualifications listed above do have an expiration date. All coaches are expected to monitor these dates via the FA Whole Game System and ensure re-certifications are planned in advance of expiry. Failure to achieve re-certification in advance of expiry will prevent you from coaching for NC United.
Continuous Personal Development (CPD)
Whilst not enforced, all Coaches are encouraged to further develop their knowledge of coaching through the use of in-person CPD events held by the local FA or online learning via the EFA Bootroom. CPD attendance contributes towards your coaching journey and are recognised by the EFA.
